Mrs. Dorothy Smith Fridley, age 88, of Covington, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor. She was the wife of the late Jack London Fridley.
Mrs. Fridley was born September 10, 1926 in Paint Bank, the daughter of the late Orion Earl Smith and Thelma Sublett Smith. A homemaker, she was a member of the former Callaghan Home Demonstration Club and the leader of the Callaghan Boys 4-H Club. Mrs. Fridley was a member of the Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Fridley is survived by three sons, H. Hunter Fridley and wife, Libby, Rob A. Fridley and wife, Emma, and M. Neal Fridley and his wife, the late Lisa Fridley; one daughter, Vickie Blackburn, all of Covington; grandchildren, Nicki Fridley Wolfe and husband, Duane, Cullen Fridley, Tyler Fridley, Travis Fridley, Trever Fridley, Heather Blackburn and fiancé, Chris George, Holly Lowry and husband, Dale, Courtney Fridley, and the late Faith Fridley; great grandchildren, Carter Wolfe, Quinn Wolfe, Tucker Fridley, Maddy Lowry, London Critzer, Zane Thela, and Layne Fridley.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Fridley was preceded in death by one sister, June Shaver.
A private graveside service was held Friday, July 3, 2015, at Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jim Rodden officiating.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Virginia, 1500 Forest Avenue, Suite 124, Richmond, VA 23229, Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422, or the Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 205 Fletcher Chapel Road, Covington, VA 24426.
