He was born in Jordan Mines, Virginia on August 2, 1925 a son of the late Robert Lee and Myrtle Ivy Tingler Tucker. He was a retired Yard Conductor with CSX Transportation, and was a member of the United Transportation Union. He was an active member of V.F.W. Post 4299 of Clifton Forge, and served in the U.S. Army in France and Germany during World War II completing 14 years in service. He was a member of Clifton Forge Elks Lodge # 1065 B.P.O.E., Disabled American Veterans of Covington and the American Legion of Covington. He was preceded in death by a wife Gerda Erna Riemann Tucker in April 1998, a son Kurt Raymond Tucker in 1986, 2 sisters Evelyn Tucker Givens and Mary O. Tucker and by 3 brothers, Harry Eugene "Fudge" Tucker, James Howard Tucker and Ben Lee Tucker. He is survived by his wife Hazel C. Johnston Tucker of Covington; daughters and son in law, Gertrude Anna Martha "Schatzie" and Robert White of Covington, Myrtle Helga and Jesse Drennen of Hot Springs, Carolyn Ruth and Randy Stuple of Potts Creek, Covington, Patricia Claudine Tucker of Covington and Deborah K. and Glenn Worley of Glen Wilton; 3 sons Everett L. Tucker, Jr. of Glen Wilton, Willie Lee Tucker of Clifton Forge and Joel Ivan Tucker of Roanoke; 3 sisters and brother in law Betty Jane and Roland Vint of West Virginia, Thelma Wright of Covington and Bertha "Sissy" Borjes of Virginia Beach, Va; Brothers and sister in law, Charles K. Tucker of Iron Gate, Raymond "Jim" and Nadine Tucker of Rich Patch, Covington, Robert L. Tucker, Jr. of Roanoke, George "Buzzy" and Eva Tucker of Covington, Parker and Judy Tucker of Covington and Clinton "Cledy" Tucker of Covington; a daughter in law Donna Downey Tucker of Selma; Step daughter Jannie Crawford and step son Thomas E. "Tiny" Johnston; 20 Grandchildren; 30 Great Grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and cousins. A Funeral Service will be conducted Monday afternoon at 1:00 P.M. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with the Rev. Lisa Marshall and Rev. Lee Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in the Locust Bottom Cemetery in Glen Wilton. Graveside Military honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4299 of Clifton Forge. Active pallbearers will be member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4299 of Clifton Forge. Friends may call anytime Sunday at Nicely Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday evening 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. The family will receive friends at other times at their individual homes. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mr. Tucker's name to the Memorial Fund of Post 4299 V.F.W. Box 182, Clifton Forge, Va. 24422.5,3 |
