She was born Feb. 18, 1868, in Gallopolis, OH, daughter of the late James Henry and Mary Bowyer Simmons. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Covington. Surviving are two sons, Walter T. Fridley, Covington, and Wilber G. Fridley, Veterans Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va; five daughters, Mrs. Pearl Marshall, Ashland, KY, Mrs. Bamma Paxton, Clifton Forge; Mrs. Hallie Terry, Washington, D.C; Mrs. Mattie Persinger, Covington, and Mrs. Helen Paxton, Low Moor, 27 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a number of step-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Simmons Fridley, 88, who died at her home in Low Moor Wednesday morning, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Persinger Memorial Chapel. The services will be conducted by the Rev. W. Carl Smith, and the Rev. W. Graham Wood. Burial will be in the Persinger Cemetery. The active pallbearers will be Smith Tingler, Harry Tingler, Jeff Tingler, Arnold Kitt, Stanley Nicely and Jimmy Brown. The honorary pallbearers will be the grandsons of Mrs. Fridley. In addition to the survivors listed in Tuesday's Daily Review, she is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Joanna Tingler, Jordan Mines, Mrs. Ora Bush, Oak Hill, W.Va. and Mrs. Myrtle Arritt, Yuba City, Calif. The body will be removed from the Arritt Funeral Home in Covington to her late residence this afternoon at 3 o'clock..2,3 |
