She was also preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Dallas, Thomas, Vincent,and Helen. Melba was a devoted wife and mother and extended her strong faith through her loving relationships with family and friends. As a military spouse, she nurtured her family through difficult challenges and maintained a positive spirit in which others could find strength. She enjoyed traveling and spread cheer with everyone she met. Melba's thoughtfulness, kindness, and compassion for others are what defined her. She was always available with an open heart and ear to listen to others and help wherever and whenever needed. Melba is survived by her son Mike and wife Charla, son Jeff and wife Michaela, grandson Chris and wife Sara, granddaughter Catherine Lott and husband Thomas, step grandson Lance Gomez and wife Jamie, step great grandson Noah Gomez, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Williams Funeral Home on Monday, Jan 14 from 6-8pm. Memorial services will be at First United Methodist Church in Garland on Tuesday, Jan 15 at 10:30am and interment services will be held at the DFW National Cemetery on Tuesday, Jan 15 at 2:30pm. She is survived by a son, Jim Boothe of Oak Hill; three daughters, Mary F. Ellison of Bradley, Donna K. Bavely and her husband, John, of Goode, Va., and Sandra L. Thompson and her husband, Bob, of Oak Hill; a former daughter-in-law, Brenda Allen of Oak Hill; a son-in-law, George Ellison of Mount Hope; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
