Obituary for Cordia M. Pegram Miller
Cordia Mae Pegram Miller , 96, of Oak Hill, WV died peacefully on Monday, February 06, 2012 at her home. Born July 27, 1915 at Dothan, WV she was the daughter of the late J.C. and Willie Jane King Pegram. Corida was a 1932 graduate of Oak Hill High School and a graduate of Morris Harvey College (now University of Charleston.) She also earned graduate credits from WVU. She was a former employee of the New River Coal Company for 10 years and the Fayette County Board of Education where she retired from after having taught in the system for 32 years. Cordia holds life membership in the Oak Hill High/Collins High School Alumni Association, Fayette County Retired Teachers Association, the Oak Hill Baptist Church and a former member of the Donnelly Bible Class and the Donnelly Circle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Vernon W. Miller, Sr. (June 18, 1998) and by two brothers and one sister. Survivors left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Cora Jane Miller and Elizabeth Ann Miller both of Oak Hill, a son, Vernon W. Miller, Jr. and wife, Sandy of Scarbro, one granddaughter, Katie Nicole Miller Carpenter and husband, Eric of Scarbro, one brother, Clarence C. Pegram of Bel Air MD and two nieces, Linda Pegram of Bel Air MD and Norma Townsley of DeWitt, VA. Services will be on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. David Sneed officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at www.tyreefuneralhome.com Arrangements by Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV.2
