Virginia Elizabeth Snodgrass , 96, of St. Albans passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at Hubbard Hospice House West, South Charleston.

Born July 16, 1915, in Sanger, she was a daughter of the late William and Sarah Burdette. She was also preceded in death by her son, Howard Snodgrass Jr; daughter, Sandra Hoke; eight brothers and four sisters.

Virginia will be remembered for her joy in simple pleasures: cooking, country music, traveling, children of all ages, beautiful wildlife and especially, for the love and support she gave her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Howard K. Snodgrass ; sons, Randall Snodgrass of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Stephen Snodgrass and his wife, Sheila, of Teays Valley; and daughters, Sharon Alligood and her husband, Gene, of Washington, N.C., Patricia Gandee and companion, Butch Kennedy, of St. Albans and Lorri Snodgrass of Charleston. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 26, at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Chapel of Hope, 5251 Robert C Byrd Drive, Beckley, with Pastor Eric Mounts officiating. Entombment will follow the service.

Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the mausoleum chapel.
