Mr. Spangler was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. He was a city retired technical engineer for Newport News Water Works, Newport News, Va.

He enjoyed bowling on the Senior League at White Oak Lanes, Oak Hill.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt who raised him, Marie Huddleston; a stepdaughter, Regina Rowe; a stepson, Jeffrey Armstrong; a sister, Gaynalee H. Maehr; and three brothers, Gary Spangler, James W. Richards, and Dennis Spangler.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Reba Wilt Spangler of Oak Hill; a son, Bill Armstrong of Newport News, Va; a stepgrandchild, Westley Rowe of Middleton, Del; a brother, Frank Spangler of Mossy, W.Va; and four sisters, Lori Anable and husband, Gale, of Holley, N.Y., Diana Miller and husband, Rod, of Charlotte, N.C., B.J. Monroe and companion, Lonnie Garris, of Oak Hill, W.Va., and Donna Ellison and husband, Butch, of Oak Hill, W.Va.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, W.Va. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral on Tuesday at the funeral home.
