Kincaid and Mrs. Gilliam were the son and daughter of a local Methodist preacher, Johnnie Kincaid, who lived in the village of Kincaid about 25 miles north of Cirtsville. Johnnie Kincaid often came to visit his children and on these occasions he would preach for the people, later organizing the group into a Methodist church. Thus we credit him as being the founder of the Cirtsville Methodist Church. We are proud of the fact that we have today as members of our church, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild of Mrs. Kincaid. "The Citsville church became a part of the Kincaid charge and the pastor rode horseback from Kincaid to preach once a month at the Cirtsville schoolhouse.8 |
