MILLARD F. WITHROW. Millard F. Withrow, 84 years old, died at 1:20 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Eskin, 207 South Twelfth street. Surviving besides the daughter are five sons. Mark of Kermit, Tex., Dan of Detroit, Mich; Robert of Highland Park, Mich; Paul of Royal Oak, Mich; and John of Oroville, Calif. Three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Smith of Colorado, Mrs. Ellen Burdette of West Virginia, and Mrs. Libby de Hart of Marklesville, Ind., and three grandchildren. The body was taken to the Thomas Funeral Home and later sent to Spiro, Okla., where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in the cemetery at Spiro. | Biography* | | Columbus W. Withrow united with the Lick Creek Missionary Baptist Church in 1854; baptized by Rev. Martin T. Bibb. At the organization of the Laurel Creek Missionary Baptist Church in 1873, he was transferred by letter to that church. He has been 10 years a deacon, 16 years treasurer and 15 years clerk of the church, is assistant superintendent of its Sabbath School. He is a son Samuel H. and Sarah (Kincaid) Withrow, both now deceased; his mother, a member of the Baptist church for 20 years, died in April, 1846; his father, a professor of religion, died Aug. 27, 1887. His wife, Angeline E., daughter of Conrad and Clara (Snidow) Peters, joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Peterstown, Monroe co., in 1852; baptized by Rev. Matthew Ellison; was transferred by letter to the Lick Creek Church in 1866, and the Laurel Creek Church at its organization. Her parents were members of the Missionary Baptist Church at Peterstown at organization in 1845; her father died in 1849; her mother in 1876. Mr. and Mrs. Withrow's only daughter, Estella B., is a member of the Laurel Creek Church. The first wife of Mr. Withrow was Clementine Miller, who died Sept. 3, 1861, leaving issue: Sarah J., now Mrs. Wheeler; Alice A., now Mrs. Ayres; Allen H., now a member of the Baptist church in Oregon; Mary F., now Mrs. Wyant, a member of the Baptist church at Rollinsburg. He married, secondly, Christiana Burdette, who died March 25, 1866, leaving one daughter, Betty A., now Mrs. Burdette, and a member of the Laurel Creek Baptist Church. Frank H. Withrow, 85, retired owner of a Charleston Insurance firm, died Sunday evening at his home "Sunrise" in South Hills. A native of Summers County, he had been a longtime resident of Charleston and was active in business and civic affairs here. He owned Capital City Loan and Investment Co. in the Security Bldg, although he retired from active work in 1959. He was a member of the advisory boards of both the Salvation Army Corps here and the Union Mission, and also belonged to Spring Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are a sister, Mrs F. L. McNeer of Hinton; a brother, Samuel of Alhambra, California; three nephews and a niece. The body is at Barlow-Bunsall Funeral Home.12,19 |

| Biography* | | Frank Withrow purchased the mansion of former governor MacCorkle located in the South Hills of Charleston. After his death, he willed the property to the Salvation Army, which hoped to use the property as a home for unwed mothers, but the plan failed owing to local opposition. The house later became a local museum known as Sunrise, and is currently the offices of a law firm. |

He went across the creek for a stick of firewood. Returning with the log on his shoulder, it is supposed he slipped while walking on the top log of the mill dam, falling with his neck across the log, the log he was carrying falling on his neck killing him instantly. His father found him a few minutes afterwards and found that his neck and skull had been broken".2 |

| Biography* | | Zachariah Wood is a member of the Lick Creek Baptist Church, into which he was received in 1860 by letter from the Sand Fork Missionary Baptist Church of Gallia co., with which church he united in 1845. His wife, Mrs. Eliza J. Wood, is a member of the Lick Creek Church; joined it in 1859; first joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in 1842; both are attendants of its Sabbath School, where she is a teacher. Enoch and Margaret (Johnson) Wood, parents of Zachariah, were both members of the Sand Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Gallia co., and were transferred to the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Fayette co., W.Va., where they held membership until their death. Mrs. Wood is a daughter of Alderson Withrow, who joined the Lick Creek Baptist Church 25 years or more before his death; her mother, whose maiden name was Phebe Skaggs, was a member of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, and transferred by letter to the Lick Creek Church. She died some years ago, having been a church member for 20 years.

Reynolds on Jan. 18, at the age of 87 years, was born in Fayette County in 1831. She was married to Thomas D. Lusher Sept. 10, 1846. To this union seven children were born, four of whom are yet living. The first, Mary Jane, died about the time she reached maturity. The next, James Houston, died in infancy. Virginia Adelaide, died in 1900. Those still living are A. J. Lusher of Grassy Meadows, Mrs. Robert Hicks, W. A. Lusher, and Mrs. Ellen E. Reynolds.
When about thirty years of age, sister Lusher professed conversion and united with the Lick Creek Baptist Church and remained an active and consistent member until death.

"Zachariah Woods, of Green Sulphur, died Tuesday, January 25th, 1910, of pneumonia, aged 86 years. He passed away at the home of his nephew, A. J. Lusher, at Grassy Meadows.
Mr. Woods was buried on the 26th inst., at Green Sulphur after services from the Baptist church, by Rev. Hall, the pastor.
Mr. Woods was a consistent member of the Baptist church and was a good citizen. His aged wife, who was Elizabeth Withrow prior to her marriage, and who is now 79 years of age, survives him, but no children.
The funeral was attended by Mrs. C.C. Hobbs, Miss Lucy Bryant, and Cosby and Lloyd Bryant, of this city".2 |

| Biography* | | There is but one family of the name of Lusher in the county, and Thomas Daniel Lusher, of Lick Creek, in Green Sulphur District, is the head of that family. He resides on the "Sugar Knob," and is now one of the aged citizens of that section. His father's name was George Lusher, who was a soldier in the war of 1812 with England. He lived to the good old age of ninety-nine years, and when in his ninety-ninth year walked the distance of seventeen miles on foot. T.D. Lusher was born in Greenbrier County, on June 26, 1823, and served throughout the Civil War as soldier in the Confederate Army. He married Miss S.J. Wood, a sister of Zacharia Wood, the famous hunter and Lick Creek blacksmith. [error: wife was Sidney Ann Withrow, d/o Alderson Withrow; Sidney's sister Eliza Ann Withrow married Zachariah Wood.] The latter was born July 17, 1826, and married a sister of Thomas D. Lusher. [error: married a sister-in-law of T.D. Lusher] Thomas D. Lusher has for many years been a consistent temperance advocate, a Missionary Baptist and a Democrat. He is the father of Andrew Jackson Lusher, Aeniss Lusher, Sarah Lusher, who married Robert Hix; and Amanda, who married Thomas Bryant [error: Virginia Adelaide Lusher md.
