Dennis "Denny" Roy Alderson Sr. passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008, at Heartland of Charleston after a long illness.
He was born August 17, 1922, in Griffithsville, W Va the son of Ira I. Alderson and Ida B. Kirby Alderson Rigg , and was raised at Glen Ray.

He was a resident of St. Albans for 52 years. Denny was a disabled U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 73. He was retired from Carbon Fuel Company after 41 years of service and was a member of the United Mine Workers Association Local 17. He was a faithful member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, St. Albans, for over 50 years.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents Ira I. Alderson and Ida Bell Kirby Alderson Rigg and two full brothers--John Gilbert "Jack" Alderson and Harold Ray Alderson and three half brothers--Ira James Alderson--Paul Bernard Alderson and Sidney Earl Alderson and one sister--Ruth Virginia Alderson Snell.

Denny is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anna May Latorre Alderson; one son, Dennis R. Alderson Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Scott Depot; one sister, Irma Ferhering of Iowa; one half sister, Ruby Geraldine Alderson Shortt Winesett of Roanoke Va. and many loving nieces, nephews and family members.

Funeral services for Denny will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 11, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 702 Hansford St., St. Albans, with Pastor Richie McNeil officiating. Entombment will follow with military graveside rites in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.4,6

Erma was born May 4, 1925, in Alderson, W. Va., to Ira and Ida (Kirby) Alderson. She married William Fehring on Feb. 23, 1950, in Hinton W. Va.

Surviving Erma are three sons, Gary (Chris) Fehring, of New Providence, Pete (Connie) Fehring of Mt. Moriah, Mo., David (Becky) Fehring, of Bethany, Mo; two daughters, Linda (Gary) Fenneman, of Providence Village, Texas, Patricia Bohner, of Ames; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Robert Riggs; her husband, William on April 27, 1989; one sister, Ruth Snell; and three brothers, Harold, Dennis and Jack Alderson.

Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of arrangements.1

Anna May Latorre Alderson, 92, of St. Albans, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Rolling Meadows Place Assisted Living Facility with her family by her side. She was born June 21, 1925 in Republic, a daughter of Charles and Lucy Billanti Latorre. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Dennis R. Alderson, Sr., brothers, Gregory Latorre, Joseph Latorre, and Salvadore Latorre. She was a resident of St. Albans for more than 55 years. Anna was a faithful member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in St. Albans. In later years she has been associated with Rock Branch Independent Church of Nitro. She is survived by her son, Dennis R. Alderson, Jr. and wife Mary, sister in law, Judy Latorre, and many loving nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and other friends and family members. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Rolling Meadows Place for their kindness and the wonderful care given to Anna May during the years she spent there. The family would also like to thank HospiceCare for their loving care and compassion during Anna’s illness and her physician Dr. Joshua Bradford, M.D. who always referred to as Aunt May. Celebration of Anna’s life will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiaiting. Entombment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to HospiceCare. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.casdorphandcurry.com.4
