Mary Kellan Martin, 84 of Sandstone, died Saturday March 11, 2017 at Summers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale following a long illness.

Born July 12, 1932 at Glade, WV she was the daughter of the late William O. and Nina Grace Ward Jones.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by her entire family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Martin in 2015, also by a son, Robert Martin, Jr. and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Martin of Sandstone and Phyllis Martin of Newport, TN. Ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday March 15, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Roger Thorton officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be; Roger Reed, Lenny Richmond, David Richmond, Danny Price, Joey Bachert and George Bachert.2

Born August 25, 1925 at Glade, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Walter B. and Mamie Redden Martin. Mr. Martin was a retired machine operator for Richmond Engineering Company in Richmond, Virginia. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. He loved being with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Martin, Jr. and also by seven brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jones Martin. Two daughters, Connie Martin of Sandstone and Phyllis Martin of Newport, TN. One sister, Drema Morrison of Stanaford, WV. Ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday August 28, 2015 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Jeff Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.2
