| Biography* | (From "Churches and Church Members of Fayette and Summers", ca. 1888. Xeroxed extract, p. 22) In 1865, united with the Christian Baptist Church in Pulaski co, VA; baptized by Rev. Austin. In 1883 he united with the Laurel Creek Missionary Baptist Church, and is superintendent of its Sabbath School. His wife, Mrs. Ida King, has been 4 years a member of the Laurel Creek Church; baptized by Rev. G.W. Wesley. Virginia S., their oldest daughter, has been a member of this church since 1883, and was also baptized by Mr. Wesley. Their children were born in the order named: Virginia S., Anna L., Nannie G., Mary A., Robert N., Charles S., Minnie C., Grover C. All but Grover are scholars in the Laurel Creek Sabbath School. Russell and Phebe (Chapman) King, parents of Charles S., were members of the Christian Baptist Church in Pulaski co; his mother died in May, 1874; his father in June, 1885. His wife is a daughter of Isaac N. and Mary A. (Bland) Dehart; her father died May 22, 1883; her mother has been a member of the Lick Creek Missionary Baptist Church for 5 years. | |
