| Biography* | | Columbus W. Withrow united with the Lick Creek Missionary Baptist Church in 1854; baptized by Rev. Martin T. Bibb. At the organization of the Laurel Creek Missionary Baptist Church in 1873, he was transferred by letter to that church. He has been 10 years a deacon, 16 years treasurer and 15 years clerk of the church, is assistant superintendent of its Sabbath School. He is a son Samuel H. and Sarah (Kincaid) Withrow, both now deceased; his mother, a member of the Baptist church for 20 years, died in April, 1846; his father, a professor of religion, died Aug. 27, 1887. His wife, Angeline E., daughter of Conrad and Clara (Snidow) Peters, joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Peterstown, Monroe co., in 1852; baptized by Rev. Matthew Ellison; was transferred by letter to the Lick Creek Church in 1866, and the Laurel Creek Church at its organization. Her parents were members of the Missionary Baptist Church at Peterstown at organization in 1845; her father died in 1849; her mother in 1876. Mr. and Mrs. Withrow's only daughter, Estella B., is a member of the Laurel Creek Church. The first wife of Mr. Withrow was Clementine Miller, who died Sept. 3, 1861, leaving issue: Sarah J., now Mrs. Wheeler; Alice A., now Mrs. Ayres; Allen H., now a member of the Baptist church in Oregon; Mary F., now Mrs. Wyant, a member of the Baptist church at Rollinsburg. He married, secondly, Christiana Burdette, who died March 25, 1866, leaving one daughter, Betty A., now Mrs. Burdette, and a member of the Laurel Creek Baptist Church.
