The Nicholas Chronicle, Thursday, April 3, 1930 Summersville, W.V. - HENRY FITZWATER DIES - Henry Fitzwater, only child of John H. and Emma Sims Fitzwater; died last Thursday, March 27th, after an illness of a week of pneumonia. Deceased was 35 years of age. He is survived by his parents, a wife and three children, his wife being a daughter of Theodore Dorsey. Mr. Fitzwater was a likeable man and had many warm friends. He was born on a farm near Gad, and his entire life was spent in that community. He commenced teaching school early in life and enjoyed the reputation of being an excellent teacher; In the communities where he taught he had the friendship of his pupils and of the patrons as well He was of a genial friendly disposition, always ready to do an act of Kindness and would make (Note one line creased from being folded and not readable.) In his business dealings he was honest and fair. On Saturday morning his remains were laid to rest in the Dotson Chapel cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O.L. Harris of the M.E. Church and Rev. L. W. Peters of thee M.E. Church, South, and were attended by a large crowd of sorrowing friends.

Mamie Fitzwater - Mrs. Mamie Fitzwater, 82, of Stamford, Conneticut, formerly of Gad, Nicholas County, W.Va., died Sunday, December 25, 1977 in a Stamford hospital. Born December 6, 1895 at Gad. she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Alice Hanna Dorsey. Her husband, Henry Fitzwater, preceded her in death in 1930. She was a member of the Dotson-Simpson United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Helen Hudkins of Scott Depot, W.Va. Mrs. Mabel Flack of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Mrs. Goldie Holbert of Stamford, Connecticut; one brother; Alva Dorsey of Warren, Ohio; two sisters: Mrs. Minnie Grose of Lockwood and Maggie Craig of Mount Nebo; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 29, 1977, in the Howard White Funeral Chapel in Summersville with Rev. Arnold Workman officiating. Interment will follow in the Dotson-Simpson Memorial Cemetery at Keslers Cross Lanes.
