27. William³ Johnson (Elizabeth² Sims, James¹) reference JOHNWI11 was born in Kanawha Co, VA 22 November 1811.⁽¹⁴⁷⁾ William died 2 October 1901 in Fayette Co, WV, at 89 years of age.⁽¹⁴⁸⁾ His body was interred in Kincaid, Fayette Co, WV, Johnson Cemetery.

He married Virginia Settle in Fayette Co, VA, 9 December 1835.⁽¹⁴⁹⁾ Virginia was born in Kanawha Co, VA 1 April 1819.⁽¹⁵⁰⁾ Virginia⁽¹⁵¹⁾ was the daughter of Abner Settle and Nancy Pinnell. Virginia died 13 July 1897 in Fayette Co, WV, at 78 years of age.⁽¹⁵²⁾ Her body was interred in Kincaid, Fayette Co, WV, Johnson Cemetery. She was listed as a resident in the census report in Fayette Co, VA, 1850. She was listed as a resident in the census report in Fayette Co, VA, 1860. She was listed as a resident in the census report in Falls of Kanawha Twp, Fayette Co, WV, 1870.⁽¹⁵³⁾ She was listed as a resident in the census report in Kanawha Dist, Fayette Co, WV, 1880. Conflicting evidence states that she died in Fayette Co, WV, 13 July 1896.⁽¹⁵⁴⁾

William Johnson, son of Rev. John and Eliza Simms Johnson was born on Laurel Creek a tributary of Gauley River not far from present Swiss P.O. Nov. 22, 1811. In 1859 licensed as a local preacher in the M.E. church [Methodist] preached regularly at Ebenezer his home church. His last sermon Oct. 1906, about 1 year before he died which occurred on Oct. 2, 1907. The will of William Johnson is recorded in Fayette Co., Will Book IV, p. 71, dated 26 September 1899, probated 27 January 1903. The dates given in the Laura Blake notes appear to be inaccurate, as William was already dead by 1906. If William's deathdate is 1901, then it is unlikely that his will would not have been probated until January of 1903; perhaps 2 October 1902 is the correct date.

William Johnson and Virginia Settle had the following children:

162 vi. Sarah Jane Johnson was born in Fayette Co, VA 7 March 1848.⁽¹⁵⁸⁾ Sarah died 11 October 1859 in Fayette Co, VA, at 11 years of age.⁽¹⁵⁹⁾ Her body was interred in Johnson Cem, Kincaid, Fayette Co VA. She was listed as a resident in the census report in Fayette Co, VA, 1850.
