Reva A. Gill Cales

HINTON - Reva A. Gill Cales, 97, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.

Born Sept. 27, 1905, at Sandstone, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Cory Evans Gill. She had lived most of her life in Hinton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Houston Cales in 1964; a daughter, Sandra Faye Cales; four sisters, Almeda Adkins, Pauline Vandall, Lena Cales and Geneva Fitzwater; and a brother, Howard Gill.

Survivors include four sons, Kermit Cales and wife, Elladine, of Brownsville, Ky., Gene Cales and wife, Veronica, of Florida, Jennings Cales and wife, Nelsy, of Christiansburg, Va., and Roger Cales and wife, Peggy, of Waynesboro, Pa; four daughters, Drema Blankenship of Hinton, Gerena Steel of Charlotte, N.C., Judy Biggs and husband, Clarence, of Charlotte and Joan Netral and husband, Charles, of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Dow Gill of Sandstone; a sister, Melba Martin of Virginia; 22 grandchildren, one of whom she reared, Echols "Tinker" Cales of South Carolina; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Laurel Creek Baptist Church with Pastors Steve Goodwin and Melvin Wills officiating. Burial will follow in King Mountain Cemetery, Ramp.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton, and one hour before service Saturday at the church.
