John Burdette, son of William and Sarah (Cornwell) Burdette. The family of John and Eleanor (Swope) Burdette left Monroe Co. and settled in Mason Co., VA (Jackson Co., VA after 1831). John died probably before 1840, when Eleanor is found as head of household in Jackson Co. In the 1850 Jackson Co. census, Eleanor is found living with her unmarried son Dixon in the household of John and Elizabeth (Burdette) Rardon, her daughter and son-in-law:
