He was listed as a resident in the census report in Wolf Creek Twp, Monroe Co, WV, 1880. Floyd Gilmer Lobban was born on March 2, 1869, at Palestine near Alderson, the son of Capt. John G. Lobban and Sallie Alderson Lobban. Shortly after, his family moved to Alderson, where his father engaged in business. Mr. Lobban received his education in the Alderson schools and early engaged in business. He purchased the South Alderson Livery Stable in 1895 and operated it successfully for nine years. In 1901 he formed a partnership with his brother, John N. Lobban, in the furniture businesss. Also in 1901 he opened a funeral parlor and for many years was prominently connected with the State Embalmers Commission. Mr. Lobban was also active in political matters, having been elected Mayor of Alderson in 1901 and again in 1933. He was an ardent Democrat and in 1912 was elected Chairman of the Monroe County Democratic Executive Committee and held that post until 1920. He was elected to the State Democratic Committee in 1932 and served for four years. Mr. Lobban was a faithful member of the Greenbrier Baptist Church and was prominent in church affairs. He was also a member of Alderson Lodge No. 70, A.F. & A.M., and the local chapter of the Modern Woodmen of America. He was united in marriage with Miss Isabel Lewis, late of Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 18, 1900, and of this union were born three children: F.G. Lobban, Jr., C.L. Lobban and R.B. Lobban. Mr. Lobban died on March 27, 1937, at the age of 68 years after a long period of ill health due to a serious heart condition. [From Thomas W.
