45. Mary⁴ Alderson (George³, John², John¹) was born in Greenbrier Co, VA 13 May 1787.⁽¹⁷⁹⁾ Mary died 13 May 1870 in Nicholas Co, WV, at 83 years of age.⁽¹⁸⁰⁾ Her body was interred in Mt. Lookout, Nicholas Co WV.⁽¹⁸¹⁾

She married James McClung in Monroe Co, VA, 15 Mar 1803.⁽¹⁸²⁾ James was born in VA 24 Mar 1770. James was the son of William McClung and Abigail Dickinson. James died 24 Jul 1824 in Greenbrier Co, VA, at 54 years of age.

She was listed as a resident in the census report in Greenbrier Co, VA, 1830. She was listed as a resident in the census report in Greenbrier Co, VA, 1850.⁽¹⁸³⁾

JAMES McCLUNG The second child of William and Abigail Dickinson McClung was b. 24 Mar 1770 in Rockbridge Co., VA. He married Mary Alderson, dau. of George Alderson and grand-dau of Rev. John Alderson 15 Mar 1803 (Monroe Mg 1799-1869,14). She was b. 13 May 1787; d. 13 May 1870. A monument was erected to her memory at Mt. Lookout, WV by her descendants. As a young woman she rode a horse to Richmond, VA to obtain a patent to a large tract of land between Gauley and Meadow River. She and James offered their children and nephews 400 acres each if they would get married and settle on it. Five of their sons accepted the offer. They were married in Monroe County,WV.
