[Benjamin and Mary's] son William A. Alderson was born 1 October 1856 at St. Charles, MO. William was educated at West Nottingham Academy in Cecil Co., MD and Lafayette College in eastern PA. He taught schoool and worked on newspapers for a time and then studied law under the Hon. Theodorie F. McDearman of St. Charles. He was admitted to practice 1 October 1878. He began his law practice in Kansas City, MO with Holmes and Dean Law Offices. In 1885, Mr. Alderson was made 1st Counsellor of Kansas City, a post he held for 4 years. In 1895 he moved to St. Louis, MO after spending 14 months in NY. In October 1880 he married Miss Mabel Haines, a native of Muncie, IN, who had moved to KS near Kansas City.
